Akashi Kaikyo Bridge

The Effectiveness and the Significance of the Paint Protecting the World's Longest Suspension Bridge

Akashi Kaikyo Bridge in Hyogo Prefecture is the longest suspension bridge in the world. We would like to introduce our works in the construction of the bridge.
A bridge built over the sea is always exposed to a tough environment such as rain and wind.
Especially, iron gets rusted easily and corrodes in such environment. Therefore, "anti-corrosive paint" is necessary for protection.
The paint which protects the coated material is called anti-corrosive paint, and it can maximize the retainability of the structure. However, our work has to take care of many factors: the capability which fits to the climate or the area, the safety, and the eco-friendliness.
The role of paint is quite significant for the enormous structure, such as steel towers, highways, plants, stadiums and bridges. It is not too much to say that you cannot keep the bridge without the help of paint.
