Providing paint to Amagasaki Tunnel Art Project
December 11~18, 2021 | Amagasaki, Hyogo prefecture, Japan
Kansai paint provided paints to the “Amagasaki Tunnel Art Project” in Amagasaki city, Hyogo Prefecture hold on 11th, 12th and 18th December 2021.
Amagasaki City is the place where the Kansai Paint Group was founded in 1918. Our Amagasaki Plant, which is the center of logistics and technology in Western Japan region of our group is still located in there.
In this project, Amagasaki City painted the mural with the cooperation of students of art club of Amagasaki Municipal Osho Junior High School and so on. Amagasaki City had received a proposal from residents to make the tunnel a bright atmosphere because the tunnel under the elevated railway tracks was dim and there were voices of anxiety in the evening. On such an occasion, Kansai Paint received a request to support as a paint manufacturer that is familiar to the residents. Before the event, residents volunteered to clean and undercoat the walls. With the cooperation of many people, a small tunnel has been reborn.
Local carpenters and glaziers helped us with the preliminary coating and the member of art club of Osho Junior High School designed and drew the mural. The design was based on the image of the four seasons - spring, summer, autumn and winter - and was painted with the aim of creating a mural that would "add charm to the surrounding environment and endear it to the local community".
We have received comments from the participants that it was fun. And we were able to get them familiar with DIY paint, which is not widely used in Japan.
We will continue our efforts to support the development of people and society through our paints and coatings business.
The tunnel, which is 2m high and 10m long, is dimly lit and many people were worried about going through it in the evening.
