Safety activities at Kansai Prakarsa Coatings (KPC)

Before dawn on June 17, 2020, KPC (Indonesia) suffered a massive fire that destroyed a warehouse at its Tangerang Plant. Since then, it has designated Safety Day in mid-June of each year to raise awareness of safety and ensure that this fire is never forgotten. Safety Day starts with a briefing from President Nakagawa, conveyed over the Web between the Head Office and branch offices, and presentations of video recordings of news reports on the fire and later rebuilding activities. These are followed by the year’s health-and-safety and Five S awards, reporting on safety activities, and drills to identify potential workplace dangers. Lastly, all personnel repeat the KPC slogans, “No operation without safety” and “Safety is my responsibility.” No major accidents occurred at KPC in FY2023, but it continued to experience minor incidents. Certain safety issues still remain. KPC will seek to strengthen employee sensitivity to safety issues and maintain thoroughgoing efforts to prevent accidents.
